Meet our amazing team
We love teaching STEM to students at Lone Oaks Farm.
STEM Program Director
Penny Russell is a seasoned educator who has a love of working with students, being outdoors, and teaching with hands-on activities. She comes to Lone Oaks Farm to lead the STEM Education Program after working many years as an educator in the public-school system. She has also spent the last sixteen summers working with youth of all ages at a summer camp/retreat center. She brings with her a strong background in making learning fun for children while promoting an interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.
Extension Associate II
Krystal has spent the past 20 years educating children and young adults in all aspects of life from early childhood development, children’s ministry, and teambuilding, while having four children of her own. Krystal joined the UT Extension family through the Lone Oaks Farm S.T.E.M Program in the fall of 2017 as an Extension Program Assistant. She continues to be inspired daily in creating new and innovative ways of connecting S.T.E.M with nature’s abundant resources.
Kara has been a part of the STEM program at Lone Oaks Farm since 2019 and serves as the on-site volunteer. With a contagious spirit and smile, Kara enjoys greeting teachers and students as they arrive at Lone Oaks Farm.
